Discrimination

Discrimination

  1. discriminate: To make or constitute a difference in or between; to distinguish, differentiate. (See EXO 11:7)

  2. Discrimination has gotten a “bad rap” because of historical and cultural errors regarding people of differing skin colors, ethnicities (and other innate, immutable characteristics) who were denied equal liberty, opportunity, representation at law, access to public benefits or consideration in policy.

    1. Some of the worst abuses of such discrimination involved the dehumanizing of certain classes which justified their being treated unfairly and wickedly: the slave trade, Australian aborigine atrocities, the “Final Solution” of the Third Reich, eugenics programs, etc. (many of which were rooted in, or exacerbated by Darwinian evolution).

    2. NOTE: There is a big difference between discriminating against an individual based on an innate, immutable characteristic so as to deny him/her what others of equal ability or character might enjoy, and discriminating against an individual based upon innate inability or behavioral choices.

      1. (1)  This is a (discriminating) distinction that the LGBTQ+ crowd have been working to eliminate so as to guarantee their lifestyle choices have “civil rights and protections” and are supported by your tax dollars. Pedophilia will likely be next.

      2. (2)  Their efforts are proving to be conflictory and self-defeating as the Transgender issue has concocted a false equal status under the law for biological males who “identify” as females and wreak havoc on women’s sports, etc.

      3. (3)  Things have become so inverted that “follow the science” now means that racism is determined genetically but not sex.

    3. Discrimination is a necessary and accepted reality in the world.

      1. (1)  Men make discriminating choices in religion, values, political leaders, purchases,

associations, foods, residences, communities, charities, jobs, commitments, etc.

      2. (2)  A man chooses one spouse to the disregard of many other possible spouses.

      3. (3)  Men choose to adopt one needy child out of many.

      4. (4)  Football teams rightly discriminate against hiring any (male or female) who are

unlikely to excel in the needed roles and it would be foolish to charge an NBA team with racial discrimination because most of its lineup is black or an NHL team because most of its lineup is white.

    4. Beware of discrimination “falsely so called.”

      1. (1)  Consider the pseudo-discrimination of the LGBTQ+ crowd. Such have been

marginalized in sane societies, not because of innate, immutable characteristics but because of behavioral choices which have proven to be detrimental to themselves and to society.

      2. (2)  A few decades ago, laws were passed to forbid what were called discriminatory lending practices against blacks when what was sometimes happening is that lending institutions on the basis of risk assessment for both the borrower and lender had to responsibly deny certain loan applications. The forced “correction” of the issue resulted in inevitable spiked housing prices, loan defaults, bankruptcy, ruined credit, distressed banks, etc.

      3. (3)  Employers have sometimes been accused of discriminatory hiring/payment practices against women with claims like “women are paid 30% less than men for the same work.” If such were true, employers would not hire men.

      4. (4)  It is not unjust discrimination to freely associate with people of your own skin color, ethnicity, etc., to the disregard of other skin colors or ethnicities. If such is

unjust, would you like government to pass laws forcing you to marry contrary to your preference?

  1. A warped view of discrimination will find fault with God and expect that He must give equal

benefit or opportunity to all in order to be just (while men themselves can be selective).

    2. God has chosen out of the fallen mass of mankind a people for Himself. ROM 9:6-24.

    1. Why did Jesus not admit into the apostolate anyone who wanted it? MAR 3:13-15.

    2. Why does God only give SOME pastors and teachers? EPH 4:11.
