Jesuits and Independent Fundamental Baptists have the SAME SPIRIT
While the Reformation was not necessarily a revival of New Testament Baptistic
Christianity, it was a revival of interest in what saith the real Book. Protestant heroes like Luther
and Tyndale who read the Antiochan scriptures came to find out that the doctrine of
UNCONDITIONAL election is an undeniable truth; and this is the doctrine that they zealously
preached to their followers. In response to this, the Roman Catholic system devised the Counter
Reformation, started by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
There have been many lies spread about “Calvinists”, one of which is that they are
terrible witnesses and evangelists. It is presumed that Hardshell Baptists are the “basket of
deplorables” that God puts on the shelf of dusty items due to their supposed worthlessness. Tell
that to Elders John Leland and Wilson Thompson, who preached Jesus Christ and him crucified
(Matthew 7:20). Thompson, in particular, was responsible for the birth of quite a few Baptist
churches (the result of BIBLE evangelism, NOT Billy Sunday evangelism). The first century
preachers were also slandered (Matthew 10:25). John Wesley and Charles Finney may have
been successful revivalists, but all they revived was the idea that hog’s food (freewill doctrine)
tasted good for sheep!
One of the similarities between old school Catholics and Independent Fundamental
Baptists (IFB) is that they are very good at making a lot of noise (with a lot of AMEN’s in
response), with very little substance (Job 6:25). In fact, both stomp, cry, shout, and pout about
“Calvinists” being damnable heretics because they believe in the doctrine of unconditional
election.
Here is a quote from a fundamentalist statement of faith: “We are Baptist in doctrine, and
traditional in views of music and worship. We subscribe to a moderate dispensationalism, and
are anti-Calvinistic in theology.” Out of all the conservative beliefs they preach, they feel they
must make it known their theology is “ANTI-CALVINISTIC”. God forbid that George Whitefield
and Jonathan Edwards, men that are revered among fundamentalists, should enter through
their church doors (IF they were still around). Yet, it’s “A-OKAY” to boast of how God mightily
used these men in the Great Awakening, despite their wicked “Calvinism”.
Here is a snippet from the Catholic Counter-Reformation’s Council of Trent: “If any one
saith, that, since Adam’s sin, the free will of man is lost and extinguished; or, that it is a
thing with only a name, yea a name without a reality, a figment, in fine, introduced into
the Church by Satan; let him be anathema” (Canon V, Council of Trent); “If any one saith,
that the grace of Justification is only attained to by those who are predestined unto life;
but that all others who are called, are called indeed, but receive not grace, as being, by
the divine power, predestined unto evil; let him be anathema.” (Canon XVII, ibid).
It is to be noted that true Bible-believing Baptists do NOT believe that God chose some
to eternal life and CHOSE others to eternal damnation, as Calvinists teach. The King James
Bible makes it plain that election is that of GRACE and eternal life, not of damnation (John
17:2). Also, man does have freewill to choose between good and evil (Matthew 7:11), but he
can’t choose God or obey God’s commands without the new birth (Romans 3:11, 18 c/w Psalm
55:19).
These statements from the Jesuits prove that there is a vicious spirit against those who believe
in TULIP. Even though the IFB preaches against Rome, they’ve got the same antagonist spirit
against “Calvinists”; so check your hearts, preacher boys (Luke 9:55).
