Record-Breaking Math Test

(1 Samuel 10:1) Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance? Here we have the anointing of Israel's first king, the establishing of a new system of civil rule in the land. King Saul was awarded to Israel as a judgment (HOS 13:11) for their rejection of God (1SAM 8:7) and the saviors (NEH 9:27) that He had sent to judge them. Samuel was the last of a long line of judges that ruled Israel following the conquest of Canaan: "...And after that he gave them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet" (ACT 13:19-20). And this brings up an interesting sidebar. The New International Version "bible" renders ACT 13:19-20 thus: "He overthrew seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to the people as their inheritance. ALL THIS TOOK ABOUT 450 YEARS. AFTER THIS, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet." This is flatly wrong! The NIV has the conquest of Canaan taking about 450 years and then the rule of the judges beginning. But the Scripture makes clear that the conquest of Canaan took less than ten years. In JOS 14:6-10 (when the conquered land was being divided up), Caleb noted that he had been forty years old when Israel first came to Canaan's border and turned away. But he was now eighty-five years old. Allowing for Israel's judgmental forty-year wandering (which was measured from the beginning of their exodus, not from their disobedience at Canaan's border a year later, NUM 14:33-34 c/w ACT 7:36) the conquest of Canaan therefore took only six years [85-79(40+39)=6], not 450. The NIV history of Israel is perverse ("turned away from the right way...wrong" per Oxford English Dictionary), but all the words of God's mouth "...are in righteousness; there is NOTHING....PERVERSE in them" (PRO 8:8). The NIV is thus proven to be a broken record which means it cannot be Scripture, for "the scripture cannot be broken" (JOH 10:35).
